The small and beautiful Half-Sovereign coin . . .
In 1817, the same year that the new Sovereign was introduced to British coinage, the Half-Sovereign was also reintroduced, and continued to be struck each year.
The obverse of this 4 gram coin shows a laurel head George III, while the sharp-cornered crowned shield on the reverse which has the arms of Hanover in the centre.
